Jon Elliott

My name is Jon Elliott, and I have been a proud resident of the Sherwood Forest neighborhood in Divide for nearly a decade. I grew up in Southern Oregon and began my career in fire service, battling wildland and forest fires for the state of Oregon. Seeking to serve on a larger scale, I went on to join the U.S. Army.

Drawn by the beauty of Colorado and a love for the mountains, my family and I made the decision to relocate. We knew we wanted to be part of a small town community, and for me, joining a fire department was a priority. The sense of brotherhood and mission driven focus have always been central to my life, and I was eager to continue that commitment in our new home. While in the process of closing on our home, I applied to join Divide Fire. Shortly after, I became a member of the department, where I gained experience across multiple disciplines within the fire service. Over time, I progressed from applicant to member, then to Lieutenant, and eventually had the privilege of serving as Captain. Throughout my time with Divide Fire, I was deeply committed to our community, responding to between 150 and 200 calls per year. Serving my neighbors has always been a passion, and I remain dedicated to helping however I can.

Recently, several members of the department have encouraged me to run for one of the open board seats in the upcoming election. My goals are straightforward: I want to help this department continue to grow and improve as our community expands. Additionally, I recognize that wildland fire is the greatest threat to our region, making fire preparedness and response a top priority for all local departments and firefighters.

Divide Fire has recently transitioned from a strictly volunteer department to a combination department, now staffed with a paid Chief, two full time fire technicians, and multiple part time firefighters. These changes have significantly improved response times and the overall quality of service for our district. I am committed to ensuring that we continue building on this progress.

Election Day is May 6, 2025, and I would be honored to have your support. Voting will take place at Divide Fire Station 1, located at 103 Cedar Mountain Road.

Thank you for your time, and I look forward to continuing to serve this incredible community.

Best regards,

Jon Elliott
